Coral Stewardship Apprenticeship Program

Next Program: March 23-30, 2024
At the Biosphere Stewardship Center in Bali

Our Coral Reef Apprenticeship Program is for divers who wish to learn how to become a Coral Steward. We practice restoration from Ridge to Reef — what happens up the hill will impact the reef below. During the 7 night/8 day program, you will live at the Biosphere Stewardship Center in NW Bali and work in the projects both inside and outside of the National Park.

Module 1:  Coral Stewardship
Replanting broken but living coral back on the reef, safe removal of coral predators, small boat mooring installation and coral gardening

Module 2: Reforestation and Watershed Regeneration
Forest Management: Water catchment, soil regeneration, tree grass, crop planting

Module 3: Home Garden Empowerment
Compost, soil regeneration, cultivar selection and water reclamation

The techniques introduced in the classroom are then practiced underwater so that each participant will have skills that they can use to ‘garden’ their own backyard coral reef and steward ecosystems to enhance resiliency wherever you are.

For more information about this program, please contact us! The program is located at our center in NW Bali. You need to be an advanced diver with excellent buoyancy skills before you can attend.
